DFU Hockey score 3 goals

DFU Hockey's season came to an end today, with an 8-3 loss to the River Rats. The result means that the team failed to qualify for the playoffs by the narrowest of margins - a single game.

Team Captain Josh Kernoff was the hero of the day, scoring a hat trick, and drawing a penalty directly in front of the opponent's goal that should have resulted in a penalty shot.

The game was also marked by some fine goal-tending by John Fine, making his triumphant return to the team after a long hiatus. He made a number of great saves and held the opponents in single digits, a strong accomplishment for DFU Hockey.

Also, Shane was the face-off champion for the team, and also managed to get up quickly after falling over, for the most part.

Captain Kernoff made the following comments on the match:

DFU HOCKEY SCORES!

...but unfortunately our opponents did too, and more times than we did.....

so no playoffs......

final score 8-3

One other highlight:

DFU hockey was, at one point in the game winning!!!!

yes, its true,

we scored the first goal of the game, and shifted to a defensive strategy, but were unable to hold off our opponents, who responded with, as you know.... 8 goals....

Stirring words.

The players say that their offseason plans include watching film from their games this year to help make the minor adjustments necessary to win the league, long training sessions, and extensive beefcaking. Also, the recruitment of more Canadian ringers.

Pictures follow.
